I am a PhD Student in Biology at Georgia Tech interested in the evolution of multicellularity and cellular differentiation in Volvox. In my previous research at the University of Montana we experimentally evolved obligate multicellularity in Chlamydomonas reinhardtii by exposing the algae to continuous predation by a filter-feeding ciliate.

My current research focuses on the comparative analyses of large DNA and RNA data sets from diverse species of Volvocine alga with the goal of reconstructing their phylogenetic history as well as understanding the genetic determinants of cellular differentiation across a variety of morphological forms.
